My name is Jo Anne. I've been called Jean, Joan, Jo Anne, Jo, Josie, you name it. I gave up a long time ago on getting people to pronounce it right. But I still get pissy when people leave the "e" off the end.

My grandmother often told me, and thus I conclude it is an Irish saying, you can call me anything, just don't call me late for dinner. I was very young when she started telling me that, and I often wondered why anybody would call somebody else "late for dinner." But I eventually figure it out.

I have always thought the Irish particularly brilliant, except for the drinking, Catholicism, and not being able to beat the British. Oh, and living in sod huts with pigs. But except for these things, brilliant.
