"...My Dad was a captain of an LST during WWII. A kamikaze was coming towards them and then veered off towards another ship. Ended up in the ocean. If it had hit, I wouldn't be here. He was 21. Might explain some of his black humors."
I remember my uncle telling a story of him manning an anti-aircraft gun on a ship during WWII.He shot down a kamikaze fighter-plane.
Unfortunately,it spiraled in to crash through the deck & into the food storage refrigeration area.
The men onboard gave him quite a hard time over having to eat powdered eggs till re-supply could occur.
