They always have issues on Amtrak.
One or both of us took Amtrak, sometimes Acela, to Washington, DC, from Newark at least a dozen times with no major problems. Trains carrying cargo have right-of-way, so we had to wait a couple of times for one to pass.
We found Amtrak to be so, so much easier than driving.
While they certainly can encounter trouble, they don't always have issues.
