Some of them may apply. Some of them may not. But if you don't pay us protection money, we will sue you over all of them and make you defend."
Our patent system is broken so badly that it does not protect innovators or promote innovation. Instead, it protects litigators and promotes litigation.
Probably a lot of truth to that, just as there is a lot of truth that plaintiff's lawyers abuse tort laws.
Whe liberals and Democrats want to reform the tort system abuses and the patent system abuses together, there might be a reasonable possibility that such a thing might happen.
Short of that kind of grand bargain, the special interest groups in each party will no doubt protect the abuses from which they benefit.
