I think an argument can be made for some business subsidies. As discussed in another thread, the government should keep the post office going (IMO). Whether through a full take-over, or subsidy. But in general I think it better to provide a subsidy through the personal tax code (e.g. electric cars, hybrid cars, solar or other alternative power generation installations, etc). Agribusiness**? Oil companies? No. We are not encouraging behavior beneficial to our nation with those. 1poorguy **People love to point at corn, but let's not forget what we do to with sugar...enrich sugar producers while screwing ourselves. |
