My junior and senior years of high school, I took 6 AP classes each semester, and I was usually up until midnight every night studying, plus most of the day on Saturday and Sunday. I also did a lot of activities - which were fun, but I did them in large part for my college applications and in hopes of getting scholarships.

Is that really "hard work" though - in a traditional sense of the phrase "hard work"? A lot of societies and cultures would see that time as a luxury - for a teen to be able to basically focus on themselves and improving their knowledge - and not having to contribute in some way to the survival of the family through either taking a job or working the farm?
