Thank you for recommending this post to our Best of feature. We have either been incredibly lucky or the Department of Homeland Security [is] far better than most give them credit for. The Department of Homeland Security/FBI have been doing a great job as witnessed by all the arrests of homegrown would be terrorists at the last second (usually after they push the button on a dud "bomb" that the FBI agent provided them with. But they can't be perfect. They have to stop EVERY attempt. A terrorist only has to get through the net once. Imagine if this sort of thing was a monthly or even weekly occurrence. The thing that amazed/horrified me was that a total stranger could just walk up to a crowded curb and leave a backpack without anyone being suspicious. I very much doubt they could have done that in Israel. |
