I signed up a long while ago, under the provision that the first $2000 could be "sent" with no "verification." It took a while, but I have reached that threshold and now they won't process more payments unless I give them my bank account number. I don't need to buy anything that bad to give them access to my/our account information. (I'm certain they won't miss me, so it doesn't really matter one way or another.)

You know there isn't any requirement to link it to your main bank account. If you really need to use the service, you can open an account with a minimal amount in it.
