I really hadn't any definitive plans to retire. Most of the things that people plan to do when they retire, I've already done. And, at this stage, it is unlikely that there will be any grandchildren to spoil.

I retired at 68 for two reasons. The first is that my wife turned 66 a month earlier and could receive the maximum spousal benefit. The second was sequestration. I worked in the defense industry. DoD has been delaying and scaling back projects since 2010 and sequestration looked as if it would result in termination of the few projects that were left.
