Might it be better for the world economy if many of these folks chose to learn a trade instead?

Hmmmm . . . Have you been to India? What trade would so many people go into? And how would releasing more trade-ready humans into the job search market sooner help India or the world?

India has a lot of infrastructure limitations that they need to fix. They have a lot of poverty, lack basic sanitation systems that are badly needed, governments with significant corruption, etc. So they are currently creating more college educated people than their economy can absorb. But I don't see how creating more trade-ready people than their economy can absorb would help much. In fact, it would limit their potential to address those underlying infrastructure problems.
