salaryguru: But let's be honest. If you believe in global warming, the odds are that you do because you have more faith in the honesty of the scientific process than you have in the right wing echo chamber pronouncements. It's not because you have carefully examined the body of scientific literature and found it to be true.

This is exactly right. I have no personal scientific experience in climate change. I do believe in the scientists who have devoted a lifetime to studying climate change, 97% worldwide who say climate is changing, being disrupted, and it is manmade.

This website is self serving, but his point is interesting. Mitigation of the effects of climate change need to be addressed now, especially since worldwide we cannot seem to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Every major oil company has a climate change division. Most have active climate change plans aimed at reducing emissions, managing environmental risks, and experimenting with alternatives to reduce climate impacts. Importantly, these are voluntary efforts. They chose to manage and discuss climate risk.

Saudi Aramco/ClimateChange
Petroleos Mexicanos/ClimateChange (3rd largest in the world has an agressive climate policy)
PetroChina/ClimateChange (scroll to 2012 Sustainability Report pdf)
Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (8th largest)
even the National Iranian Oil Company has a token appreciation for the effects of their industry on the climate
