Ii asked a riend of thefamily (a lawyer) to investigate the gun laws of Detroit for me. I'm thinking of getting a CCW permit.
The gun laws of Detroit are the same as the gun laws of Michigan because Michigan has pre-emption laws that prohibit cities from passing laws more restrictive than what the state proscribes.
If you want to get your CPL (it's not a CCW... that's the charge code for carrying a concealed weapon without a Concealed Pistol License) I highly recommend Rick Ector's class. It's not the cheapest, but it's well worth the cost. He has a lawyer teach the legal section. Most classes have a cop come in. I like cops, but cops aren't lawyers, and in this case they have two different priorities. Cops arrest people, lawyers keep people out of jail... you want to stay out of jail and the lawyer will tell you how to do that. Besides, the lawyer has argued these cases in court, most cops have never taken the stand in these kinds of cases.
That, and you can't argue with a name like Legally Armed In Detroit (L.A.I.D.). His goal is to get EVERYONE in Detroit L.A.I.D. ;-)
