Article in May Forbes, page 68, by Marc Gerstein, on business development companies. Article suggests that BDCs get access to more information on the companies they lend money to, than hi yield bond mutual fund managers might get..and also suggests BDC's may get board seats in these start ups.

BDC's that are mentioned briefly in the artice are ARCC, TCAP, HTGC, TCRD, yielding around 8%

Also a write up on Fidelity New Market Income Fund manager John Carlson, article states he's achieved 13% compound annual return since 1995.
