The father of a friend of mine was appointed a Federal judge in Alaska while she was growing up.
She reported that she lusted after expensive cerials and other food imports from the lower 48 when she was a child and turned up her nose at fresh salmon, halibut, crab and other local seafoods and such.
This was back in the 1950s I think.
