Ackman is raising a new fund to target a stock:
Large-cap, US, one biz segment, diverse customers, predictable w/high barriers to entry.
What's your pick?
1) Emerging market stressed/distressed corporate debt: supposedly a USD 2.8 trillion market now (growing at 21% compounded), compared to USD 3.5 trillion US/European high yield/leveraged loan market.
Prospective clients should be aware that EightTrack EM Fund Ib is subject to an extensive lock-up period and minimum investment of $25 MM. We will seek above-average returns by investing in heavily stressed first yield equivalent debt with either a) payoff at par or b) work with other investors to achieve control of the equity. Extensive knowledge of local bankruptcy laws is a must.
2) Sharia'a compliant asset management. EightTrack Allahu Akbar Fund Ia is a hybrid fund which focuses on equity investment in the MENA region and also invests in selective Sukuk Islamic bonds. There is a substantial need for Islamic investors to diversify their "real" assets with "financial" assets.
