"Are these people stupid or what. There are areas of Florida where Burmese pythons are a problem (breeding indiscriminately and threatening indigenous wildlife). Apparently, people who got tired of their "pet" pythons let them loose in the vegetation where the pythons, having no natural enemies, bred out of control." - Catherine

Invasion of the Giant Pythons--Invasive Burmese Pythons in Florida

I am fascinated by invasive species but some invasive species are downright scary and dangerous. Like the Lionfish that have been turned loose from people's aquariums and Burmese pythons.

There are some invasive species that are just barely able to hang on and only live because of the compassion of humans like certain species of parrots that live in cities and eat out bird feeders.

I did know an Exotic Animal Vet that bred and raised baby Cobras in captivity. He was sort of a nutty guy and I sometimes wondered if was crazy enough to turn baby cobras loose in the environment. I remember reading one article online about some electrician guy in Florida that was bit by a "green snake" while out working and he died. They think it might have been a green Mamba. Now what concerns me was there only one snake or has some crazy person started turning loose Mambas that he has bred in captivity?
