Most of the people working on this stuff do it out of sheer love for the product (there is no stronger motivator), and many of them are more paranoid than you (I know, but it's true!)!
I trust that what you say is true. However, I'd feel a lot better if Snowden had already received a pardon and had been granted official whistleblower status.
My address book and other personal stuff on my smart phone are not things I want to share with anyone who hasn't obtained my prior permission - especially someone who might jump to conclusions and/or "indefinitely detain" me on mere "guilt by association" because Whafa, Ormont or some other shady character was spotted in my address book.
