This just got better. The deceased had a special needs son, who it appears, now owns half of his grandfather's house. I've told the friend that he needs a lawyer pronto, this is a total mess.

They needed a lawyer years ago. It would have been much cheaper.

So many possibilities, and none of them good. The son's creditors may have priority over the grandson. To perservce his benefits, the grandson may have to turn his interest in the house over to the state. Hopefully, only half the house is at risk over this DIY estate planning.
