Of course first time home buyers and empty nesters can make a deal and move any time.
So can families. New job or transfers puts a family in need of moving when less than stellar for the kids in school. We moved in December, when there was very little inventory on the market since the conventional wisdom is no one looks during the holidays. Stupid advice if you actually want to sell your house. There is no one set time to move.
Low available inventory in good school districts is probably the main reason we bought this place, which was too big for us even before the kids started to leave for college. Had fewer people taken their house off the market for the holidays, we might have bought something else.
