In 2003, the state Department of Higher Education created the STEM Pipeline Fund, to better educate students in the study of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, in hopes of creating a highly qualified generation of STEM workers.
Four years ago, Governor Deval Patrick created the Governor's STEM Advisor Council, which has annually increased the funding for related educational programs.
