How do you short an annuity?
Do what I did for my wife ( who was sold an annuity shortly after her prior marriage divorce, when she felt financially vulnerable ):
1. Maximize penalty-free withdrawals each year (if the contract allows them).
2. Get the heck out as soon as the contract allows without significant financial penalty.
It took three+ years, but we got clear of her annuity without penalty....and are glad we did.
