IRS announced they would delay the beginning date to process 2013 returns due to the time lost during the gov't shutdown. Said this is the time of year they are doing testing of their systems and the 16 day shutdown left them way behind. Returns will likely not be accepted until at least January 28 and possibly not until February 4.

Last year the IRS delayed because Congress waited until the last minute to extend or change many tax provisions. This year the IRS will delay because Congress shutdown the gov't for 16 days. It seems the problem is always Congress. Maybe we should fire them and start fresh.
