I wish we still had little ones, but the GKs are now 22 and 24. Wonder if I will ever see great GKs;)..

Hang in there. You just might see those Great Grand Kids!
I had two children by the age of 26. My own children didn't have
their children until they were in their mid 30's so all the grandkids are under the age of 5. We are so happy that we will be able to see them grow up. At their ages now, 4,3,2, they are happy to come to see us. We moved right down the block from two of them them and now we get to see them at least once or twice a week. Coming to our house is a novelty at the moment and we are enjoying each and every visit but next year even the baby will be in school and they will be gone most of the day.
Some day they will get too old and no longer content to visit us and color or make things with Play Doh. They will want to be with their own friends. I am already sad at that prospect so we enjoy them when we see them. Prior to moving here we lived 250 miles away and saw the children only a few times a year. Now we love to see them go by in the car and waving to us.
People ask why we left New York City and all that it had to offer.
I just point to the kids and that tells the whole story.
