DOn't know if it is available to you, but when I saw FIRE in sight, I did feel a similar drop off, not huge, but it was there.
I got involved more with younger workers and trying to act as a mentor of sorts. I found the motivation was stronger than ever, and I was more committed.
The personal desire to do a good job is always there for more of us, sometimes if we can add an external motivator, like helping others, we can get back
BTW low, I took this advice and have been doing this a bit with a couple of young guys in the office. It is very satisfying. I actually started off with one about 4 years ago but it was geared more to the Dave Ramsey plan at the time because he was so far in debt. Now the same guy is debt free and is intrigued about FIRE.
I'm considering 'outing myself' more with others, which could be career limiting, but heck! That don't matter so much anymore does it? lol
