I know the RMD amount I must take out for tax year 2014. Does it make sense to take it out of my worst-performing stock bundle (TIAA-Cref small caps, I think...I'll check before I do it) when the market is high? My thinking is that I'll have to cash in fewer units to get the same amount of money. Then I'll re-invest it in something else that's stodgy--My Foolish picks have done better than the ones TIAA-Cref picks for me.

Is that right? I mean, to withdraw funds from relatively poor performers when the market is high rather than wait to see how it is at the end of the year?
