a 1 yr CD paying 4.76 % APY, This is higher than anything in my local area (out west). Is there any catch,

I've been watching rates over the last couple of months and they're absolutely moving up.

A couple of months ago, my local bank was paying 1.75% on a one year CD. They just recently had a "special" offer of 4.05% for a one year CD.

For this reason, I've been keeping handy cash investments short. Like 6 month to 1 year duration.

I think that in the near future, rates will go even higher.

But what do I know?

Just my 2¢
