Last night we went out to dinner with a friend of DW's and her hubby, the first time I have met either. Hubby, it turns out, chose Canada over Vietnam and got a graduate degree in psychology at a Canadian university on the cold, windy prairie, just as I did.

And informed us, a few days after I started planning a Norway trip that will include some time in Bergen, that his ancestors came to the New World from Bergen. And that he had been semi-fluent in Spanish before it faded from disuse.

And DW's friend is 59 but looks 45 and like a retired fashion model, while I'm 64 and look 59 and watch Project Runway.

I had sturgeon with black rice risotto and Japanese mushrooms. It was really, really good.
