...A friend suggested the YMCA. Does anyone use them? Did they add on all of the extra fees? Any disadvantages to the YMCA?I've been member for more than 20-years. More due to its location. I pass it on the way to and from work with only a slight 1/2 mile detour. Each "Y" is different. The "Y" I attend seems geared for folks like me, "past our prime". Yet, all age groups are represented from swimming toddlers, handicaped, steam room only old folks, and you may be surprised that more females than males are members at "my Y".No add on fees except yearly adjustments for inflation. However there are several types of membership. Family, single, permanent locker and towel service. I subscribe to the complete package, which because I'm over 65 get it for $35/month. Dat's not cheap but I think it's worth the expense. The biggest disadvantage I have with it, is that it is not open 7/24; lately the lap pool is so crowded I haven't used it for nearly 2-months. It's also dated. Well I shouldn't complain about that because I'm also dated :))Good luck,TB
