A legal expert I am not and the responses so far pretty much cover it except it should be said that just because your a person with inside information does not mean you can't buy the stock. The particulars I am not sure about, but basically if you can show that you would have made the purchase without the inside knowledge (can be difficult to show) it would be legal. I'm sure the timing of the purchase and the amount would have something to do with it. With that said as everyone else said check with legal.
