A lot of foreign car companies build their cars here though, do they not have unions? My Civic LX was made in South Carolina and was made from 70% American parts which is just as many as any American car, but I'm not sure about whether they have unions or not.

In Fremont CA (Bay Area) there is a joint venture (NUMMI) between GM and Toyota. Toyota runs it. It is union, but negotiated with Toyota. It is a very succesful plant. At various times in the last ~10 years it has ranked as the most efficient assembly plant in the US, IIRC.
