I have been curious as of late as to whether this might be the only perfect time in recent history for independent auto makers to make a comeback. I know there are already a handfu out there that are doing reasonably well, but does anyone think we coud see more independent cars on a large scale, or are the costs of scale in manufacturing just too prohibitive for the common folk like most of us to ever own on independently produced car?

Or, perhaps, could this be a time for an independent to become one of the big guys?
