No not really, but it might as well be. Stores can now add up to 4% of the purchase price to make up for their cost of allowing you to use a credit card.

This is so disingenious, they already have that priced into the cost of the product, so in effect, you're will now be paying for the swipe fee twice.

Supposedly stores are supposed to tell you and its supposed to show up as a separate charge on the bill. Ironically, they won't do it for debit cards or prepaid credit cards which don't have the fraud protection.

Some big stores have said they won't do this, we will see.
