A tad optimistic!

There are lots of uses--or more accurately, potential uses--for stem cells. In addition to the potential for treating hair loss, there's healing chronic wounds, correcting some genetic diseases, organ regeneration, repairing radiation-induced muscle tissue destruction....etc etc etc.

But it's all still future tense -- including baldness. For baldness, not only is having the right stem cell lineage still far from a procedure that would be safe in humans, but that's only one part of the puzzle. They also need a supply of dermal papillae cells, and how to achieve that is still a mystery.

Working with stem cells continues to present substantial challenges. Understanding how to protect them when they are applied to a damaged--translate that to highly inflammatory--environment is a big one. As it is now, they die off very rapidly and their impact is marginal compared to their potential.
