A123 could never solve it's 'high discharge current''d pull 'max current' out for 10 cycles and the battery would degrade by over 80%

Do you have any source for this assertion, tele? I've never heard any such thing. In fact A123 brags about the high current that their batteries can both charge and discharge: much more than regular cobalt Li-ion batteries.

A123 had a manufacturing issue that ruined about $100 million worth of batteries, but that was identified and fixed, though it did bankrupt them.
