Our comeback companies report acknowledges some of the corporations that have returned to the Platinum 400 after an absence of one or more years. Among them are AAR (nyse: AIR - news - people ) and Arrow Electronics (nyse: ARW - news - people ), both of which are making their first appearance on the list since 1999

One notable comeback company is AAR (nyse: AIR - news - people ), which appeared on the inaugural 1999 Platinum list, then failed to qualify for the next eight years. This aerospace and defense company finally climbed back over the $1 billion revenue mark in fiscal year 2007, after dipping below our revenue cutoff in fiscal year 2001. AAR delivered 22% sales growth and 36% earnings growth over the past 12 months and is on pace to report its largest profits in its history
