Isabel Call is a friend of my oldest niece. She is a grad student at UC Davis. Recently she was diagnosed as having a very rare kind of cancer called malignant neoplasm carotid body tumor on her neck. She's had surgery, but needs more treatment that will kill any remaining cancer cells. Unfortunately, the best treatment, recommended by highly regarded experts, is Proton Beam Therapy, and her insurance company is refusing to pay for it.

It appears, for reasons that are not clear other than 'this is how student insurance works', that the person in charge of making the final decision is the chief financial officer at UC Davis. Isabel's friends have started a petition at Change.Org.

I'd appreciate it if you would read the information and, if you agree, sign the petition. If you are able to do anything further, including getting more coverage for her story, that would be wonderful.
