I would like to thank the runners up for The Feste Award, the Brothers Gardner and staff, and all members of The Motley Fool community for not demanding a recount or brandishing blazing torches and pitchforks and storming The Read House.

I would particularly thank those who voted for me although many thought it was voting for a chance at free steak knives. I lied.

This gesture of confidence (mirrored in today’s 300 point rise in the Dow – don’t worry, it’ll drop once the realization sinks in) is not only personally gratifying but also a sign to my extended family in the US who have worried about their relative marrying a degenerate Canadian salmon fisher 22 years ago that all is not lost. I shall send them pictures of Elly wearing her tiara (she demanded one on hearing the news of The Feste).

The history of The Feste Award shows competence, knowledge, community: it matters not that I am the lone one with an asterisk for blatant self promotion fueled by copious amounts of Kokanee beer resulting in long run-on sentences having misplaced modifiers, excessive comma placement, prepositional beginnings, dangling participles, verb confusion, improper nouns, and too many mispelings to count.

Nonetheless, thank you all. It’s been a fun ride and one to continue.
