XP to iOS board

FIXED but i dont understand ....
so if anyone can explain, or anyone thinks they might see the problem

************************
tried to get all cute and extend my Airport wireless through an older Airport

did something wrong .. net got lost somehow,
couldn't reset with Airport Utility.

had to (?) reset the Airport,
'create' new network

my mac can see it and use it my iPhones cannot

sees it in settings, when i select it asks for the PW, but then the little whatsit just spins.

Any ideas?

i'd used a new name for the network, JFG, thought that might be it, but changed it back and that didn't help

did a google and found this
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3042520?start=495&t...
Started to have similarities with other peoples about the wi-fi connectivity issue. Well figured it out like this. When in the home router Qos settings I change the value of WMM Support to enabled my iphone 4s can't connect to the network(on by default on a lot of routers with that option). When disabled it connects and functions straight away.

..dont understand that in the least but somehow sent me to
Airport Utility /Network tab /Connection sharing pull down
...it was set to "Off (bridge mode)", i changed to "Share a public IP address" ..... Voilà

other choice was "Distrute a range of IP Addresses"
?????? would that be better?

went back to my new name ...and still working.

(and during the process discovered someone has a SMCWBR14S-N4_AP network with no security <g>
