Agreed, it was an amazing thing to watch. The Funeral took about 15-20 minutes, with Dan expounding on the qualities of each HG. He demonstrated that he had gotten to know each of them in a meaningful way, so the tears were flowing. Danielle was clearly expecting glowing words coming in her direction, the best saved for last. So when he ripped her to shreds, not only her but the rest of the HG were in shock.

But that was all misdirection. The real target of Dan's plan was Frank. By cutting off his only ally, Danielle, and by delivering to Frank information, with specific examples of proof, Dan was able to get Frank to realize he had no idea what was happening in the game. Rule #1 in Big Brother is to always have a bigger target than you. Dan delivered that in Brittney and Frank, who has never made a decision on his own in this game, ate it all up.

To me, the most amazing thing was how Dan reeled Danielle back in so easily. Not as easy as the edited episode suggested, but she came back to him relatively quickly. She is an emotional person and as much as she is infatuated with Shane, she's completely taken in by Dan. But she has the presence of mind to hide it all from everyone else. Joe and Brit were suspicious - Joe thought Frank offered Dan a one week deal - but none of them think Danielle would actually go back to someone who had so little regard for her feelings.

Who notes that Dan, Frank, Jenn and Danielle managed to keep their deal secret for 2 days, and then have managed to keep Dan and Danielle's secret reconciliation a secret to this point...
