Aida,

I'm not real comfortable giving other people advice, but I can tell you what I am doing with my 401K & Roth IRAs (my wife and I both work, I have a salary, she sales real estate).

I have all my 401K in a S&P 500 index fund. I contribute the max amount each payday and get a small company match.

My Roth is with Scottrade. I dollar cost average $125 twice a month (on the 10th and 25th) into Dodge & Cox Stock fund. With Scottrade there are no trading fees for no load funds, and no maintainance fees.

My wife's Roth is with Scottrade. I dollar cost average $125 twice a month (on the 10th and 25th) into Dodge & Cox Stock balanced fund.

I'm very comfortable doing things this way. No market timing, not a lot of guessing.
