All I can tell you is what I've dealt with myself.

I'm in the same boat you are. I got married in June to a man with 2 children from a previous marriage. We already pay $1000 a month in child support based on his income. She actually tried to get the child support raised as soon as we got back from our honeymoon. We live in Michigan and she lives with the 2 children in Texas. The Attorney General of Texas denied her motion to raise the support. So, that was great news.

We also have a business on the side, and we keep everything in my name, that way she cannot touch any of the income, assets, etc.
