All my picks have been taken, mostly going downtown. Did all of Pauleckler and Countupp's during a smaller layover. Can't remember if they included the blue light district, but with DW we walked quickly and I closed one eye. Also, pretty decent shopping.

It does mean checking your bags, including carryon. I wouldn't carry my bag on the train.

I remember the train vending machine taking non-chip credit cards, but it's been several years.

Definitely watch for pickpockets. They announced their presence in four languages on the intercom on the train.

ENJOY! As I think I said, I enjoyed flying KLM.
