All of my recent computer purchases have been through Newegg.

They have a lot of variety and I can easily screen the list down to a manageable level. If you are looking for a certain build, often times you can get it down to a few items to choose from. The customer reviews are pretty helpful as they will often disclose information that is not on the tech sheets (heats up, runs loud, etc). Even if you don't plan on buying there, I would price them out for comparative purposes.

Tigerdirect is very similar to Newegg.

I purchased my desktop at iBuyPower through Costco about four years ago.

I have had no issues with it. Modestly well built machine with my new GPU plays any of the new games on the market today. It was the least amount of money that I have spent on a desktop and I think it will be my longest lasting machine also. I can't complain.
