All of the posts are good. I have a question about the performance of the mutual funds available. Is the performance poor relative to the market, or any other benchmark?

Also do the math for them. By not contributing 6% they are refusing a 3% raise. I dare say anyone would turn down a 3% cost-of-living raise.

Is the plan level for the Union and Non-Union employees? Perhaps the local could help educate the workers.

I am a participant in a much worse plan than this and in 7 years I have approximately 57K in my plan. It is never too late to save unless you have been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Then and only then might one desire to spend every cent and refuse a 3% raise.
