...All of their styles and product lines now seem to be aimed at "younger" buyers. Trouble is, those styles do not appeal to a lot of older, more mature buyers, and younger buyers usually don't want to bother with JCP or Penney's! They prefer trendier stores in the first place!

So Penney's has managed to desert their longtime customer base in favor of some hoped-for, imagined new trendier and younger base!?

Not a wise move!

They won't be the first store to die because they dumped their main customer base and sought a base that simply doesn't fit them!

It's sad. And stupid.

Ron Johnson, moving from head of Apple's retail stores to being, or more correctly, trying to be the CEO of J.C. Penney, has absolutely no understanding of the former JCP customer base. Ron Johnson has already amply demonstrated that he does NOT have the required retail experience to be the CEO of JCP.

Unless Ron Johnson is replaced as the CEO of JCP after the fourth Quarter, JCP is DOOMED. Too bad too. When my wife and I were both students at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, <1972 - 1976> we used to shop at JCP quite a bit for our young family. I was a Veteran completing a graduate school degree, my wife was completing a MFA degree.
