All this talk and figuring about ... retirement -- Why?

Rich, count yourself lucky that you can't pay a kid $4 a hour in India to tend your sheep over the internet, from his laptop.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people retired, or semi retired, who don't really want to be. With globalization, rapidly changing technology, broadband, and a recession to boot, many peoples' lives and professions have been transformed for the worse.

But, all this talk of spending down? Isn't this the Dividend Growth Investing board? For many people this is strategy to ameliorate, if not eliminate, the necessity of harvesting assets.
