All though I do like the idea of the "Fair Tax". I am not sure now would be the time to implement an untested tax system. I understand what they say it will do. However, I am a little bit of a pessimist about all things. With the current divide we have in our government where nothing can be done without both democrats and republicans adding all sorts of fat to legislation I am 99.9% sure this system would not be implemented as planned. What we need to do is figure out a way for politicians to start thinking longer then their current term. Find a way to work together and try to solve some of Americas larger problems, like a $14tr debt, no clear consensus on what to do about the debt ceiling, and government spending so large I am not even sure we could collect enough taxes to cover it. Yeah, taxes suck, I do hate being taxed twice on my retirement investments, and I would love to see the economy start to boom. However, at the end of the day I would be happy if they could start to solve some problems. Maybe even figure out how to have a robust military without spending 20% of the budget on it. I won't even get started on that as I have far to much to say about it being an officer in the Army and seeing what politicians have done to get re-elected.
