I have a joint account and I must file tax return separately. When I read IRS pub 550, it says allocation of dividend and capital gains to each party is up to the state law. I am in New York state. Can anyone tell me where I can find the information? Thanks!

Oops...sorry...I'm a west coast kinda guy. Your best shot would likely be the revenue department folks in Albany.

Other than that, I would have no idea. Sorry...
