Hi all,

OK. I hope I don't get 1 demerit against me for this, but I've been so busy reading the Stocks & Strategies boards lately that I forgot some of the basics.

I have 2K in my sweep acct for my self directed Roth which my broker just recieved. I have intentions of investing it next week for the year 1999.
My question is: When can I contribute for the year 2000? If I remembered this right I have until 4/14/00 to contribute for '99 but I can contribute another 2K starting on 1/1/00 for 2000 & can contribute ONLY for the year 2000 after 4/15/00. Do I have this right? Feel free to point me to a FAQ or any other article for this if there is one.

Thanks
Charlie

I reply:

Just about. You may make your 1999 IRA contributions (except for Education IRA, which is [probably] on a calendar year basis) until April 17 [sic], 2000. You may make your 2000 IRA contributions between January 1, 2000, and April 16, 2001, inclusive. --Bob
