Looks like I won't be buying a house this year and am seeking something pretty safe and stable but better than all the CDs (mostly at Ally bank w/ low surrender fees) I'm currently watch turtle along at 2.something% yield.

Recently came across an ETF which Barclays manages that essentially is a way to get a share of long term Treasurys with the flexibility of an ETF. Ticker TLT.

Considering parking some portion of cash in here; there is some price volatility but the yield is considerably better than a CD.

Some other candidates in this realm are a few more ETFs - PFF (Preferred stock), LQD (investment grade corporates), and HYG (lower grade corporates).

Any thoughts? My e-fund is very well vested, Roths funded, wife's SEP funded, TSP maxed, etc.
